PS3 Controller on PC - Without Messing up your USB drivers
Finally, a driver for the ps3 controller that won't f*ck up your Zune or anything else that uses a usb port:
First, credit: http://www.instructables.com/id/SNZU1LKFQ6EBI5F/
Second, here is the basic setup:
1. http://dl.qj.net/dl.php?fid=25580 <-- Download
2. In the folder ds3drv should be a driver.
3. Connect your ps3 controller. Open up device manager (with permissions if necessary)
4. Replace the port (perhaps usb.002?) or whatever (game controller driver) with the driver in that folder
5. Push your PS button when its done
6. Ok
*I'll update this and make it automated eventually.

Carnival of Time Story
Basically when Anju’s Grandma tells you the carnival of time story, at the very end the text goes away and you see the background for a few frames. I captured it and tried fixing it a little to give it more life. I’ll try blending the pixels more later.
Changes:
- Cropped the wide screen bars.
- For some reason Tingle’s Balloon in the original didn’t quite load…nor did some other things.
- Also, i felt as if the stars should be moving. The flames got a little touch too.
- Brightness/Contrast/Hue tweaks (I really had no idea what I was sliding/clicking in photoshop…I just played around with the settings ‘till something nice came out).
- [These settings will probably be tweaked again and again, right now it’s too much yellow (no idea…) or too bright or something. Who cares?]
Note: These look great as small image previews. But if you click on them, you can tell detail is severely lost. Just keep it in between. Also! No lame watermarks, yay!

Now, it has become a custom for each person to bring a handmade mask to the Carnival of Time.”

Super Smash Stuff 2
Here’s a more direct comparison:
Original
New
Basically, the lives are greatly improved as are the attack effects. Character models sport no big difference, some of the static textures (level elements: building, flag, pokeball) are minor improvements. The background is better.

Super Smash Stuff
Here are screen shots after I played around with hi-res textures and…stuff.
The last screen shot is really weird, it’s using normal settings. My laptop just isn’t having a good day.
Someone decided that peach and mushroom suits the room better.
HD credits given…Smash logo confused.
Big difference from stock game textures.![]()
What the hell. How could this ever be playable? No health meter, no damage counter. Rob probably isn’t even in the ship. Peppy is probably said. ;-(

PS3 Controller | LibUSB | Zune
[SCROLL DOWN TO FIX #3 if you wanna skip all this other stuff and/or you know what you’re doing. Everyone else, read on.]
So you wanted to play games on your computer with your ps3 controller. And maybe you have a Zune too. And just maybe you possibly have other usb devices, like mouse or a Zune.
So one day you google for a way to get the ps3 controller working on your computer and you are eventually prompted to install the notorious libusb. After you do that, all your usb devices now are confused and angry. If you run windows vista or 7, you know already that installing in compatibility mode (yes, even in sp3) won’t allow the controller to work. Well, i got the Zune to work in a really crappy fix, but let me explain. So:
PROBLEM - libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe
1. You installed this.
2. Your PS3 six-axis works.
3. Your Zune (most common problem) and/or other usb devices don’t work.
FIX #1 – Eh…
1. Uninstall libusb
2. Restart computer
- Problems with this: 1. Doesn’t even work. 2. You get some stupid error that the uninstall.dat file blows or doesn’t exist, or just something retarded. 3. Blue screens your ass on next restart
Fix #2 – Crappy, but better…
1. Go to Services:
- XP Users: Start –> Control Panel –> Services
- Vista/7 Users: Start –> type ‘Services’ –> Click on Services
2. Stop the LibUsb – Win32 Daemon (click on image below to see what I’m talking about)
3. Navigate to your System32 folder (C:\Windows\System32)
4. MOVE your libusb0.dll out of the folder, or just rename it to something else that you’ll remember (like libusb0.bak.dll).
5. Now go into Device manager and Double Click on any device that wasn’t working. Click on the Driver tab and click on update driver. Windows will now fix whatever wasn’t working because of libusb.
(This image shows the aftermath of the instructions.)
---
End – Feel free to post comments/questions
Well I know this isn’t much of a fix, not yet. Someone will eventually (or I will) write a program to do all of these steps for you. Maybe I will…Hope this helps.
(Note: I’ll get some upload better screen shots eventually)
Fix #3 - UPDATE – my fix
What it does – it does the instructions above, except for the part where you need to update your drivers for your zune (or any other usb device). It’ll open device manager up for you though! Also, as an added bonus, I’ve included another .bat file that’ll undo the changes and allow you to use that ps3 controller again. But you’ll have to re-disable everything again when you want your zune (or other usb shit) to work.
Warning - Ok, run the .bat file at your own risk, you’ve been warned. Vista/7 users, you’ll have to run with admin privileges. You can open up the file in Notepad to check that it’s not something that’ll destroy your computer. Happy?
BEFORE ANYTHING IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO CREATE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT. You don’t have to, but you get the idea.
1. Download this.
2. Extract using your preferred program.
3. You choose:
a. TO DISABLE LIBUSB AND GET YOUR OTHER USB STUFF WORKING: 1. run DISABLE libusb.dat (you probably have to run in admin mode) 2. update (see fix #2 - step 5 above) your devices’ (like your Zune) drivers.
b. TO RE-ENABLE LIBUSB AND TO GET YOUR PS3 CONTROLLER READY TO BE SETUP AGAIN: 1. run ENABLE libusb.dat 2. Follow your ps3 controller setup instructions (I assume its: 1. cmd in admin mode 2. ‘ps3sixaxis.en’ 3. push ps button)
4. Be happy.

Fear of Fans
Today prince knocked over a fan.
He ran away from it.
I don't think he's too fond of fans. They possibly scare him when they fall.
Prince is a fast runner though!

Uncharted 2 - Among Thieves
Uncharted 2 came out. Here is a screen shot, or whatever. Yes this is in game:
It's only for the ps3. I hope naughty dog (the creators of the game), eventually release the two games for the 360, or even the wii. Sure the graphics won't be as great and might even require spanning the game across a couple of discs, but it'll draw in a lot more money for them. They (Uncharted 1 and 2) are fun games.
The shooting gets kinda lame sometimes, but you'll get over it. Hooray!
I need to save up to buy it first. It's ok.

WM -- 1
WM, stands for Weekly Music.
Copying Kris's approach with weekly emails, I made one myself. But here it is in blog form. For legal reasons I can't post any of the music here, but if you post your email address or email me, I can add you to the mailing list.

It's some soft percussion mixed with a really friendly female voice in front of and behind a bunch of custom loops and organic sounding stuff. It's quiet and won't bother you. You'll get into it eventually. It has some elements of folk. It'll probably remind you of 6 and 7 yr. olds, somehow.
[Tracks: 1, 4, 5, 9]
This album is latin america and africa combined into one, with some of the best tribal/percussive stuff in the world. Just think Brothersport by Animal Collective, but a lot more African and Latin influenced. And less attractive, more gritty. It's upbeat and a wonderful album to enjoy and get in to. Occasionally some weird loop, but worth it. Not in english, but never needed to be.
[Tracks: 1, 4, 5, 7]
Artist: CaribouDid anyone see that lime beer commercial on TV? They have a Dodos song in it. Not from this album, but it could've been. This album preceded their popular Visiter album (also something to go after). It's a playful album, and really quiet, but has enough percussion/acoustic duo-ing going on to satisfy. Visiter is better, but whatever. Go for it.
[Tracks: 1, 4, 9]
Something very good happened when these two bands came together, and hey hey! here it is. This is some great electric-rock-pop-awesome-trippy stuff. It's just great to have on and do whatever to. It's really loud and a rush sometimes, but sometimes its just smooth and chill. The album is great and is hidden under piles of random indie albums out there. Look into both bands if you can. Listen to this first!
That's more than enough for now, enjoy if you want. If you NEED more: check out Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree album | and | Belle and Sebastian's Push Barman to Open Old Wounds compilation album.

Sad Sam
So sad
So sad
Sam is sad

And his name was Sam
Sad Sam!
So sad
One day he was happy, however
He was still Sad Sam
Aw.

FtM -- A Beary Scary Trip (a work in progress)
Listen to Tess,
She had been in water,
Hiked through tall-tall grass,
Danced with two of the more human-esque butterflies,
Lewis and Clark, do you care to wager?
Never has she been trapped in a log cabin,
In the woods, with Alan Rickman!
And then came the bears.
Sir Goddard, do you approve?
The bears came to that fair log cabin, and tried to eat
Tess and Alan. Or Alan and Tess.
Someone is confused,
Sun Tzu, your teachings have no meaning here!
Magic! Mimicry! Mouse.
Powdered leaf, and fire!
Within minutes, the cabin burned,
And the Bears—scared!
Within days, the cabin rebuilt,
And Tess—learned to care!
As for Alan, as for Tess...
Keep the ending, dear.

FtM -- Stories Introduction
Introduction to the Stories
Some form of guilt or another got me into more awkward situations than I enjoyed counting. Whether it was because of my 'familial-piety' cloud choking me during my sour hours or because of my ability to climb fences at will, I always ended up being able to predict the consequences. I'm an asshole.
One time, I set the whole city which I inhabit on fire. The fire got every living thing angry (to Hell with emotions!): my family, two squirrels, some other animals, some people, and even me. Those people and the animals left the city, excluding me. The animals came back the next day, but the people wouldn't return until I died—that's what they told me. Mind you, this didn't make me happy; it was nice before the fire.
My parents called me Robert Deighler before the fire. A couple of important events (by their standards) would happen during that time. The following is what those events were:
A lot of working
A lot of running.
A lot of smiling.
A lot of dancing.
...
I told you it was nice before the fire.

FtM -- Poem 1
Modern Primogeniture
--
As the walls came down,
They pointed to the Crown,
'To the mines!' he screamed.
--
For that his children cleaned,
All of the dirt and matter,
That fell from each carrying vehicle,
Once in a while a taste would drop into their mouths,
Pitter-Patter, Pitter-Patter.
--
the Crown drops to his children's side,
'Forgive me, my sons!' he screamed,
The one girl in disgust, beamed,
She and herself had never been recognized.
--
When the walls went back up,
During the next dawn and New Crown,
The Old Crown sat wistfully,
Aboard the head of his daughter, happy and blue.
--
It glamored and gleaned, like her late King!
But in a different way, one that grew agile,
Enough to pass a stream through a string!
