WM -- 1

WM, stands for Weekly Music.

Copying Kris's approach with weekly emails, I made one myself. But here it is in blog form. For legal reasons I can't post any of the music here, but if you post your email address or email me, I can add you to the mailing list.

Album: 03/07-09/07
Artist: High Places

It's some soft percussion mixed with a really friendly female voice in front of and behind a bunch of custom loops and organic sounding stuff. It's quiet and won't bother you. You'll get into it eventually. It has some elements of folk. It'll probably remind you of 6 and 7 yr. olds, somehow.
[Tracks: 1, 4, 5, 9]

Album: AlegranzaArtist: El Guincho

This album is latin america and africa combined into one, with some of the best tribal/percussive stuff in the world. Just think Brothersport by Animal Collective, but a lot more African and Latin influenced. And less attractive, more gritty. It's upbeat and a wonderful album to enjoy and get in to. Occasionally some weird loop, but worth it. Not in english, but never needed to be.
[Tracks: 1, 4, 5, 7]

Album: Andorra
Artist: Caribou

With someone else, or something. Whatever, if you haven't sampled anything by Caribou, this isn't a bad place to start. But don't get too into him, he gets evil. Anyway, this album has a lot of energy behind it, with a decent electronic spin on every track. It's soft, and easy on the ears. Some more electronic sounds, multiple-voice harmonies fit, but get kinda old. One of these songs belong in a movie.
[Tracks: 1, 2, 3, 6]

Band: Beware of The Maniacs
Artist: The Dodos

Did anyone see that lime beer commercial on TV? They have a Dodos song in it. Not from this album, but it could've been. This album preceded their popular Visiter album (also something to go after). It's a playful album, and really quiet, but has enough percussion/acoustic duo-ing going on to satisfy. Visiter is better, but whatever. Go for it.
[Tracks: 1, 4, 9]

Album: The House of Apples and Eyeballs
Artists: Octopus Project and Black Moth Super Rainbow

Something very good happened when these two bands came together, and hey hey! here it is. This is some great electric-rock-pop-awesome-trippy stuff. It's just great to have on and do whatever to. It's really loud and a rush sometimes, but sometimes its just smooth and chill. The album is great and is hidden under piles of random indie albums out there. Look into both bands if you can. Listen to this first!
[Tracks: 1, 5, 6, 8, 11] Track 11 should've been longer, it's a shame.

That's more than enough for now, enjoy if you want. If you NEED more: check out Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree album | and | Belle and Sebastian's Push Barman to Open Old Wounds compilation album.
